A wonderful podcast, it shines the light on what is an often less well known chapter in WW1.

Thank you for another great episode. I’m fascinated by the poem “The Road to la Bassée”, and its connected to this area. I hope to visit it someday, and this is a excellent guide.

Another fantastic podcast about a forgotten part of the Old Front Line. Really helps give you a feel for the landscape and how difficult it was for the British troops.

Great podcast Paul. It took me back 17 years the 90th anniversary tour which you led!
The “Leichenfeld von Loos” still has a very sinister ring to it. Is the new museum at Lens on the itinerary of any Leger tours?

Great stuff Paul! Most Unfavourable Ground…It is also worth adding that it is said the first tune Piper Laidlaw was Blue bonnets O’er the Border this tune was played almost 29 years later by Piper Willie Ford from the 7th Battalion KOSB to rally them on Landing Zone S at the start of Operation Market Garden….Keep up the good work and thanks for the MUG mention!

Thanks Paul, I am visiting the ‘Unfavourable Ground’ later in the year and your podcast has set me up nicely to get most out of my time of the ground.
