WW1 Podcast with Paul Reed
So what is this new film like? Thanks to Netflix, I’ve been able to watch an advance screening of the new film All Quiet on the Western Front. In this episode we look at the film, the story behind the book that gives it its name, and I share my thoughts on what the film is like and the impact it may have on our understanding of the Great War.
Sounds like a must watch…excellent review…..

I was surprised when I saw the words “new film”! That got my attention – looks awesome. It makes sense that the German army went ‘over the top’ at times, during attacks…. But when did this happen as I don’t know of any times this happened!

The Germans attacked on many occasions if that’s what you mean? Second Ypres, Verdun, Kaiser’s Battle, Battle of the Lys etc.

Thanks for a great review Paul. I’m a big fan of the Deutschland 83 series, so I’m sure that this will be as good as you say. It’s also made me buy the DVDs of the two earlier versions. Oddly enough I’ve never read the book, so I will treat myself to the folio version.
