Fantastic, Mark was one of my history lecturers at QMW University in the early 90s and was my inspiration for my passion for the Great War

I have been visiting the Western Front since 1999 and have often wondered about the development of battlefield tourism since the early Post Great War pilgrimages. This episode explains it in fascinating detail. Thanks for another excellent podcast.

All the more so because I was under the impression that battlefield pilgrimages/tourism declined significantly post WW2 and didn’t pick up again until the mid 80s. And not as Mark said, in the late 50s early 60s.

The 60s saw a peak again because of the 50th Commemorations but it nose dived after that again.
