  1. Wonderful podcast. My son and I are off few a days walking the Somme in February. We much prefer going there off season.

    • I went there on a self-guided walking tour in February 2023. I thoroughly enjoyed it, walking about 54 miles in 5 days. The only downside is that most of the village cafes are closed at that time of the year, so remember to take some refreshments with you!

  2. My great uncle from the Royal Naval Division rests in Ancre cemetery. We have visited the area twice. It is always lovely to hear his Division mentioned and to know that he and his comrades are remembered.

  6. Excellent as always, mate.

It is a great walk, the scrap pile is still there at the farm near Thiepval, as you walk along the track past the farm. Nearly all live munitions, so definitely just to photograph!!

Also, I have a casualty in Stump Road. My friend and colleague, who does our websites, her Gt gt Uncle is there, Victor Harry Chanter, The Queens, Kia 18/11/16.

    Cheers

    Rick
