  1. When you talk about Territorials do you mean like National Guard or Reserves?  I thought territorials were troops from Canada,  New Zealand, Australia etc.

  2. Very interesting chat…we know a lot of blokes did not arrive in France till 1915 but one of my Grandfather’s joined a TF unit at the end of August 1914 and was in France 3 weeks later….look forward to next episode and listened to this one from Thsiland so greetings

In the Netherlands were we have conscription since 1811 (thanks to Napoleon) and being conscripted myself for 16 months, the stories of the volunteers that came from civilian lives, were put in bow tents and forced to live with each other and the army, differ not too much with my own experiences.
    Found it all very amusing to hear and will definitely buy Richards book.
