Podcasting About the Great War

In this special Trench Chat we bring together four Great War Podcasters: I was so very happy and honoured to be joined by Mike Cunha, Matt Dixon and Terry Whenham. We discuss what podcasting is all about and what we think the subject brings to this medium, and go off on plenty of tangents too!

  1. What a great episode! Im sure I’m not on my own when I say one of my favourite things about all four podcasts is the delivery – I feel like you’re talking to me directly. I can’t be the only one who has been inspired to visit the battlefields by listening either!

  2. I’ve finally had some time to listen to this most interesting and timely podcast. I have a 75 year old Belgian historian friend visiting me in Canada this week. Our dinner conversation tonight was at first based on the Somme battle and then your podcasts in particular. I honestly felt that, with your voice in my head and my own passion for the subject, I had enough information to hold my own in our discussion. Thank you for providing the stories and their historical significance so that the amateurs amongst us can share our thoughts and keep the past alive for our children and grandchildren. My dream is to go back to Belgium and France and visit the places where the souls are resting.

  3. Really enjoyable.
I have the pleasure of knowing both you Paul, and Terry, and whilst I’ve not met either Matt or Mike, we have crossed paths on SM.
Thanks for all you do and have done, and keep up the good work!

  4. Hi Paul

Loved this episode, especially as I regularly listen to all four podcasts. Had to laugh at the comment about people standing on battlefields whilst listening to a podcast. We went to Mells last weekend to visit St Andrew’s Church, the grave of Siegfried Sassoon and the memorial to Jack Horner and listened to the your podcast of two years ago whilst there!

  5. Great podcast as ever. Good plug for the “forgotten battlefields” and military charities. Also some good points made about the positivity of these podcasts when compared to some of the vitriol found elsewhere online.
