WW1 Podcast with Paul Reed
In the second of our walks at Ypres we examine the fighting at Railway Wood on the Bellewaarde Ridge, looking at the battle here in 1915, static trench warfare and the war underground with British tunnellers who died beneath the battlefield and are commemorated at a unique cemetery.

Brilliant Paul! Still seems mad I was looking across that same landscape just a few weeks ago. Now I can’t wait to get back!

Thanks for the Vlog Paul. It is difficult to reconcile the the tranquil scences around Bellewarde now with the photos taken by Private Fyfe 1915. Last time I was there a children’s amusement park was built nearby. I know that some Great War buffs didn’t approve, ie it is in poor taste given the death and destruction that took place there. I think that it is a fitting tribute (albeit unintentional) to those who fell in the defence of Belgium all those years ago.

Great vlog. Visited RE Grave last year. Small but very impressive.
