I’m really enjoying these podcasts. It’s great that there is no music or any other background effects which means that the listener can focus one hundred percent on the spoken word.

The usual rivetting podcast..! I’ve said it before, Paul, but each weekend is looked forward to, as each new chapter arrives. I well remember finding my first piece of relic militaria. Right next to the huge German Azeville Battery in Normandy, I looked down into the grass and lying there was the lid of a WW2 German Mess tin. On another occasion, I stopped on my bike to take a photo outside Guillemont, looked into a field and there in the earth lay a huge cache of live rifle rounds, revealed by heavy rain. Fascinating moments, connecting one instantly with the men long gone…

Excellent podcast listening to Tim talking about his finds and experiences. Look forward to hearing more like this. Definitely agree with the point about being tuned into the Great War. It’s been on my wavelength since watching the Great War series in 1964!

I’m working my way through your podcasts Paul. Like you I’m fascinated and quite obsessed with this conflict. And I was thinking before i started this episode about the stories you tell, and the coincidences you mention. Then low and behold you and Tim talk about them.
