In our latest batch of Questions and Answers we look at what Mentioned in Despatches were, who they were awarded to how and what they were for, we discuss what special badges were represented on the headstones in War Cemeteries, how German occupation worked in WW1 and how the casualties of the various nations affected them, and who suffered the most?

Definitely recommend Dinant Citadel. We were there at the beginning of last month. As you say, Paul, there are so many memorials to civilian atrocities that it becomes a bit overwhelming.

Yes I thought that your comments on Scotland’s losses were very relevant. Having visited their National War Memorial twice, I was left with a distinct impression that the Scots had suffered disproportionately high losses in WW1.
